Side-by-side reading
Job 25
Douay-Rheims 1899
About this edition1Then Baldad the Suhite answered, and I said:
2Power and terror are with him, who maketh peace in his high places.
3Is there any numbering of his soldiers? and upon whom shall not his light arise?
4Can man be justified compared with God, or he that is born of a woman appear clean?
5Behold even the moon doth not shine, and the stars are not pure in his sight.
6How much less man that is rottenness and the son of man who is a worm?
Clementine Vulgate 1598
About this edition1Respondens autem Baldad Suhites, dixit:
2[Potestas et terror apud eum est, qui facit concordiam in sublimibus suis.
3Numquid est numerus militum ejus? et super quem non surget lumen illius?
4Numquid justificari potest homo comparatus Deo? aut apparere mundus natus de muliere?
5Ecce luna etiam non splendet, et stellæ non sunt mundæ in conspectu ejus:
6quanto magis homo putredo, et filius hominis vermis?]

About this edition1Then Baldad the Suhite answered by saying:
2Power and terror are with him that makes a pact with those in high places.
3Is there any limit to the number of his soldiers or to the number of those over whom his light rises?
4Is it right for man to compare himself to God, or to appear pure though he is born of woman?
5Behold, even the moon is not radiant, and the stars are not pure, in his sight.
6Is man much more than rottenness and the son of man much more than worms?
