Amós 1

1Palavras de Amós, que foi um dos pastores de Tecué. (Contêm) a revelação que teve acerca de Israel, nos dias de Ozias, rei de Judá, e nos dias de Jeroboão, filho de Joás, rei de Israel, dois anos antes do terramoto.

2Disse: O Senhor rugirá de Sião, de Jerusalém fará ouvir a sua voz; os prados dos pastores estarão de luto, o cume do Carmelo secará.

3Isto diz o Senhor: Por causa do triplo e do quádruplo crime de Damasco, não mudarei o meu decreto (de justiça). Porque eles, com carros armados de ferro, despedaçaram (os Israelitas de) Galaad,

4por isso porei fogo á casa (real) de Azael, e esse fogo devorará os palácios de Benadad.

5Quebrarei o ferrolho (ou poder) de Damasco; exterminarei de Bigath-Aven os que lá habitam, e de Beth-Eden o que tem na mão o cetro; e o povo da Síria será transferido a Quir, diz o Senhor.

6Isto diz o Senhor: Pelos três crimes de Gaza, e pelos quatro, não mudarei o meu decreto (de castigo). Porque deportaram uma multidão de cativos para a entregarem à Idumeia,

7por isso porei fogo aos muros de Gaza, e ele reduzirá a cinza os seus edifícios.

8Exterminarei de Azoto os que a habitam, e de Ascalon o que tem o cetro; descarregarei a minha mão sobre Acaron, e perecerão os restos dos Filisteus, diz o Senhor Deus.

9Isto diz o Senhor: Pelos três crimes de Tiro, e pelos quatro, não mudarei o meu decreto (de castigo). Porque entregaram uma multidão de cativos à Idumeia, e não se lembraram da (antiga) aliança fraternal,

10por isso porei fogo aos muros de Tiro, e ele devorará os seus edifícios.

11Isto diz o Senhor: Pelos três crimes da Idumeia e pelos quatro, não mudarei o meu decreto (de castigo). Porque perseguiu a (Israel) seu irmão com a espada, abafando a compaixão (que lhe devia), porque o seu furor não cessa de despedaçar, e persiste até ao fim a sua indignação,

12porei fogo a Teman, e ele reduzirá a cinza os edifícios de Bosra.

13Isto diz o Senhor: Pelos três crimes dos filhos de Amon, e pelos quatro, não mudarei o meu decreto (de castigo). Visto que desventraram as mulheres grávidas de Galaad, para, por este meio, dilatar os seus domínios;

14por isso porei fogo aos muros de Raba, e ele devorará os seus edifícios, no meio dos gritos de guerra dum dia de batalha, no meio do turbilhão dum dia de tempestade.

15O seu rei irá para o exílio, juntamente com os seus príncipes, diz o Senhor.

1Verba Amos, qui fuit in pastoribus de Thecue, quæ vidit super Israël in diebus Oziæ, regis Juda, et in diebus Jeroboam, filii Joas, regis Israël, ante duos annos terræmotus.

2Et dixit: [Dominus de Sion rugiet, et de Jerusalem dabit vocem suam; et luxerunt speciosa pastorum, et exsiccatus est vertex Carmeli.

3Hæc dicit Dominus: Super tribus sceleribus Damasci, et super quatuor non convertam eum, eo quod trituraverint in plaustris ferreis Galaad.

4Et mittam ignem in domum Azaël, et devorabit domos Benadad.

5Et conteram vectem Damasci: et disperdam habitatorem de campo idoli, et tenentem sceptrum de domo voluptatis: et transferetur populus Syriæ Cyrenen, dicit Dominus.

6Hæc dicit Dominus: Super tribus sceleribus Gazæ, et super quatuor non convertam eum, eo quod transtulerint captivitatem perfectam, ut concluderent eam in Idumæa.

7Et mittam ignem in murum Gazæ, et devorabit ædes ejus.

8Et disperdam habitatorem de Azoto, et tenentem sceptrum de Ascalone: et convertam manum meam super Accaron, et peribunt reliqui Philisthinorum, dicit Dominus Deus.

9Hæc dicit Dominus: Super tribus sceleribus Tyri, et super quatuor non convertam eum, eo quod concluserint captivitatem perfectam in Idumæa, et non sint recordati fœderis fratrum.

10Et mittam ignem in murum Tyri, et devorabit ædes ejus.

11Hæc dicit Dominus: Super tribus sceleribus Edom, et super quatuor non convertam eum, eo quod persecutus sit in gladio fratrem suum, et violaverit misericordiam ejus, et tenuerit ultra furorem suum, et indignationem suam servaverit usque in finem.

12Mittam ignem in Theman, et devorabit ædes Bosræ.

13Hæc dicit Dominus: Super tribus sceleribus filiorum Ammon, et super quatuor non convertam eum, eo quod dissecuerit prægnantes Galaad ad dilatandum terminum suum.

14Et succendam ignem in muro Rabba, et devorabit ædes ejus in ululatu in die belli, et in turbine in die commotionis.

15Et ibit Melchom in captivitatem, ipse et principes ejus simul, dicit Dominus.]

1The words of Amos, who was among herdsmen of Thecua: which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Ozias king of Juda, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joas king of Israel two years before the earthquake.

2And he said: The Lord will roar from Sion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem: and the beautiful places of the shepherds have mourned, and the top of Carmel is withered.

3Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Damascus, and for four I will not convert it: because they have thrashed Galaad with iron wains.

4And I will send a fire into the house of Azael, and it shall devour the houses of Benadad.

5And I will break the bar of Damascus: and I will cut off the inhabitants from the plain of the idol, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of pleasure: and the people of Syria shall be carried away to Cyrene, saith the Lord.

6Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Gaza, and for four I will not convert it: because they have carried away a perfect captivity to shut them up in Edom.

7And I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour the houses thereof.

8And I will cut off the inhabitant from Azotus, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ascalon: and I will turn my hand against Accaron, and the rest of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.

9Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Tyre, and for four I will not convert it: because they have shut up an entire captivity in Edom, and have not remembered the covenant of brethren.

10And I will send a fire upon the wall of Tyre, and it shall devour the houses thereof.

11Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Edom, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath pursued his brother with the sword, and hath cast off all pity, and hath carried on his fury, and hath kept his wrath to the end.

12I will send a fire into Theman: and it shall devour the houses of Bosra.

13Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of the children of Ammon, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath ripped up the women with child of Galaad to enlarge his border.

14And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabba: and it shall devour the houses thereof with shouting in the day of battle, and with a whirlwind in the day of trouble.

15And Melchom shall go into captivity, both he, and his princes together, saith the Lord.
