1Estes são os filhos da Província (da Judeia), que, tendo sido levados cativos para Babilônia por Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, voltaram para Jerusalém e para a Judeia, cada um para a sua cidade.

2Voltaram com Zorobabel, Josué, Neemias, Saraias, Raelaias, Mardoqueu, Belsan, Mesfar, Beguai, Reum, Baana. Eis o número dos varões do povo de Israel:

3Filhos de Faros, dois mil cento e setenta e dois;

4filhos de Safatias, trezentos e setenta e dois;

5filhos de Area, setecentos e setenta e cinco;

6filhos de Faat-Moab, (filhos de Josué e de Joab) dois mil e oitocentos e doze;

7filhos de Elão, mil e duzentos e cinqüenta e quatro;

8filhos de Zetua, novecentos e quarenta e cinco;

9filhos de Zacai, setecentos e sessenta;

10filhos de Bani, seiscentos e quarenta e dois;

11filhos de Bebai, seiscentos e vinte e três;

12filhos de Azgad, mil e duzentos e vinte e dois;

13filhos de Adonicão, seiscentos e sessenta e seis

14filhos de Beguai, dois mil e cinqüenta e seis;

36Sacerdotes: Filhos de Jadaia da casa de Josué, novecentos e setenta e três;

37filhos de Emer, mil e cinqüenta e dois;

38filhos de Fasur, mil e duzentos e quarenta e sete;

39filhos de Harim, mil e dezassete.

40Levitas: Filhos de Josué e de Cedmiel, dos filhos de Odovia, setenta e quatro.

41Cantores: Filhos de Asaf, cento e vinte e oito.

42Filhos dos porteiros: Filhos de Selum, filhos de Ater, filhos de Telmon, filhos de Acub, filhos de Hatita, filhos de Sobai, ao todo cento e trinta e nove.

43Natineus: filhos de Sia, filhos de Hasufa, filhos de Tabaot,

44filhos de Ceros, filhos de Siaa, filhos de Fadon,

45filhos de Lebana, filhos de Hagaba, filhos de Acub,

46filhos de Hagab, filhos de Semlai, filhos de Hanan,

47filhos de Gadel, filhos de Gaer, filhos de Raaia,

48filhos de Rasin, filhos de Necoda, filhos de Gazão,

58Todos os Nalineus e os filhos dos servos de Salomão eram trezentos e noventa e dois.

59Estes são os que partiram de Teimala, de Tel-Harsa, de Querub, de Adon, de Emer, e que não puderam indicar qual era a casa de seus pais e a sua linhagem, (para mostrar) que eram de Israel:

60Os filhos de Dalaia, os filhos de Tobias, os filhos de Necoda, seiscentos e cinqüenta e dois.

61Dos filhos dos sacerdotes: Os filhos de Hobia, os filhos de Acos, os filhos de Berzelai, que tomou por mulher uma das filhas de Berzelai de Galaad e que foi chamado do seu nome.

62Estes procuraram o livro da sua genealogia, mas não o encontraram ; por isso foram excluídos do sacerdócio.

63O governador intimou-lhes que não comessem das coisas santíssimas, até que se levantasse um pontífice douto e perfeito (para consultar Deus).

64Toda esta multidão era como um só homem (e compreendia) quarenta e duas mil trezentas e sessenta pessoas,

65sem contar os seus servos e as suas servas, que eram sete mil trezentos e trinta e sete; entre eles havia duzentos cantores e cantoras.

66Tinham setecentos e trinta e seis cavalos, duzentos e quarenta e cinco machos,

67quatrocentos e trinta e cinco camelos, seis mil setecentos e vinte jumentos.

68Muitos dos chefes das famílias, tendo entrado no templo do Senhor que está em Jerusalém, fizeram oferendas espontâneas à casa de Deus, para se reedificar no seu lugar.

69Deram, conforme as suas posses, para a despesa da obra, sessenta e um mil dáricos de ouro, cinco mil minas de prata e cem vestimentas sacerdotais.

70Os sacerdotes, os Levitas, os do povo, os cantores, os porteiros e os Natineus estabeleceram-se nas suas cidades. Todo o Israel (habitou) nas suas cidades.

63Et dixit Athersatha eis ut non comederent de Sancto sanctorum, donec surgeret sacerdos doctus atque perfectus.

64Omnis multitudo quasi unus, quadraginta duo millia trecenti sexaginta:

65exceptis servis eorum, et ancillis, qui erant septem millia trecenti triginta septem: et in ipsis cantores atque cantatrices ducenti.

66Equi eorum septingenti triginta sex, muli eorum, ducenti quadraginta quinque,

67cameli eorum, quadringenti triginta quinque, asini eorum, sex millia septingenti viginti.

68Et de principibus patrum, cum ingrederentur templum Domini, quod est in Jerusalem, sponte obtulerunt in domum Dei ad exstruendam eam in loco suo.

69Secundum vires suas dederunt impensas operis, auri solidos sexaginta millia et mille, argenti mnas quinque millia, et vestes sacerdotales centum.

70Habitaverunt ergo sacerdotes, et Levitæ, et de populo, et cantores, et janitores, et Nathinæi, in urbibus suis, universusque Israël in civitatibus suis.

67Their camels four hundred thirty-five, their asses six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

68And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the temple of the Lord, which is in Jerusalem, offered freely to the house of the Lord to build it in its place.

69According to their ability, they gave towards the expenses of the work, sixty-one thousand solids of gold, five thousand pounds of silver, and a hundred garments for the priests.

70So the priests and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singing men, and the porters, and the Nathinites dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
