1Voici le livre de l’histoire d’Adam. Lorsque Dieu créa Adam, il le fit à la ressemblance de Dieu.

2Il les créa mâle et femelle, et il les bénit, et il leur donna le nom d’Homme, lorsqu’ils furent créés.

3Adam vécut cent trente ans, et il engendra un fils à sa ressemblance, selon son image, et il lui donna le nom de Seth.

4Les jours d’Adam, après qu’il eut engendré Seth, furent de huit cents ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

5Tout le temps qu’Adam vécut fut de neuf cent trente ans, et il mourut.

6Seth vécut cent cinq ans, et il engendra Énos.

7Après qu’il eut engendré Énos, Seth vécut huit cent sept ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

8Tout le temps que Seth vécut fut de neuf cent douze ans, et il mourut.

9Énos vécut quatre-vingt-dix ans, et il engendra Caïnan.

10Après qu’il eut engendré Caïnan, Énos vécut huit cent quinze ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

11Tout le temps qu’Énos vécut fut de neuf cent cinq ans, et il mourut.

12Caïnan vécut soixante-dix ans, et il engendra Malaléel.

13Après qu’il eut engendré Malaléel, Caïnan vécut huit cent quarante ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

14Tout le temps que Caïnan vécut fut de neuf cent dix ans, et il mourut.

15Malaléel vécut soixante-cinq ans, et il engendra Jared.

16Après qu’il eut engendré Jared, Malaléel vécut huit cent trente ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

17Tout le temps que Malaléel vécut fut de huit cent quatre-vingt-quinze ans, et il mourut.

18Jared vécut cent soixante-deux ans, et il engendra Hénoch.

19Après qu’il eut engendré Hénoch, Jared vécut huit cents ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

20Tout le temps que Jared vécut fut de neuf cent soixante-deux ans, et il mourut.

21Hénoch vécut soixante-cinq ans, et il engendra Mathusalem.

22Après qu’il eut engendré Mathusalem, Hénoch marcha avec Dieu trois cents ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

23Tout le temps qu’Hénoch vécut fut de trois cent soixante-cinq ans.

24Hénoch marcha avec Dieu, et on ne le vit plus, car Dieu l’avait pris.

25Mathusalem vécut cent quatre-vingt-sept ans, et il engendra Lamech.

26Après qu’il eut engendré Lamech, Mathusalem vécut sept cent quatre-vingt-deux ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

27Tout le temps que Mathusalem vécut fut de neuf cent soixante-neuf ans, et il mourut.

28Lamech vécut cent quatre-vingt-deux ans, et il engendra un fils.

29Il lui donna le nom de Noé, en disant : « Celui-ci nous soulagera de nos fatigues et du travail pénible de nos mains, provenant de ce sol qu’a maudit Yahweh. »

30Après qu’il eut engendré Noé, Lamech vécut cinq cent quatre-vingt-quinze ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

31Tout le temps que Lamech vécut fut de sept cent soixante-dix-sept ans, et il mourut.

32Noé, âgé de cinq cents ans, engendra Sem, Cham et Japheth.

1Hic est liber generationis Adam. In die qua creavit Deus hominem, ad similitudinem Dei fecit illum.

2Masculum et feminam creavit eos, et benedixit illis: et vocavit nomen eorum Adam, in die quo creati sunt.

3Vixit autem Adam centum triginta annis: et genuit ad imaginem et similitudinem suam, vocavitque nomen ejus Seth.

4Et facti sunt dies Adam, postquam genuit Seth, octingenti anni: genuitque filios et filias.

5Et factum est omne tempus quod vixit Adam, anni nongenti triginta, et mortuus est.

6Vixit quoque Seth centum quinque annis, et genuit Enos.

7Vixitque Seth, postquam genuit Enos, octingentis septem annis, genuitque filios et filias.

8Et facti sunt omnes dies Seth nongentorum duodecim annorum, et mortuus est.

9Vixit vero Enos nonaginta annis, et genuit Cainan.

10Post cujus ortum vixit octingentis quindecim annis, et genuit filios et filias.

11Factique sunt omnes dies Enos nongenti quinque anni, et mortuus est.

12Vixit quoque Cainan septuaginta annis, et genuit Malaleel.

13Et vixit Cainan, postquam genuit Malaleel, octingentis quadraginta annis, genuitque filios et filias.

14Et facti sunt omnes dies Cainan nongenti decem anni, et mortuus est.

15Vixit autem Malaleel sexaginta quinque annis, et genuit Jared.

16Et vixit Malaleel, postquam genuit Jared, octingentis triginta annis, et genuit filios et filias.

17Et facti sunt omnes dies Malaleel octingenti nonaginta quinque anni, et mortuus est.

18Vixitque Jared centum sexaginta duobus annis, et genuit Henoch.

19Et vixit Jared, postquam genuit Henoch, octingentis annis, et genuit filios et filias.

20Et facti sunt omnes dies Jared nongenti sexaginta duo anni, et mortuus est.

21Porro Henoch vixit sexaginta quinque annis, et genuit Mathusalam.

22Et ambulavit Henoch cum Deo: et vixit, postquam genuit Mathusalam, trecentis annis, et genuit filios et filias.

23Et facti sunt omnes dies Henoch trecenti sexaginta quinque anni.

24Ambulavitque cum Deo, et non apparuit: quia tulit eum Deus.

25Vixit quoque Mathusala centum octoginta septem annis, et genuit Lamech.

26Et vixit Mathusala, postquam genuit Lamech, septingentis octoginta duobus annis, et genuit filios et filias.

27Et facti sunt omnes dies Mathusala nongenti sexaginta novem anni, et mortuus est.

28Vixit autem Lamech centum octoginta duobus annis, et genuit filium:

29vocavitque nomen ejus Noë, dicens: Iste consolabitur nos ab operibus et laboribus manuum nostrarum in terra, cui maledixit Dominus.

30Vixitque Lamech, postquam genuit Noë, quingentis nonaginta quinque annis, et genuit filios et filias.

31Et facti sunt omnes dies Lamech septingenti septuaginta septem anni, et mortuus est. Noë vero cum quingentorum esset annorum, genuit Sem, Cham et Japheth.

1This is the book of the generation of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him to the likeness of God.

2He created them male and female; and blessed them: and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

3And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot a son to his own image and likeness, and called his name Seth.

4And the days of Adam, after he begot Seth, were eight hundred years: and he begot sons and daughters.

5And all the time that Adam lived came to nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.

6Seth also lived a hundred and five years, and begot Enos.

7And Seth lived after he begot Enos, eight hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.

8And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

9And Enos lived ninety years, and begot Cainan.

10After whose birth he lived eight hundred and fifteen years, and begot sons and daughters.

11And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years, and he died.

12And Cainan lived seventy years, and begot Malaleel.

13And Cainan lived after he begot Malaleel, eight hundred and forty years, and begot sons and daughters.

14And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.

15And Malaleel lived sixty-five years, and begot Jared.

16And Malaleel lived after he begot Jared, eight hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters.

17And all the days of Malaleel were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.

18And Jared lived a hundred and sixty-two years, and begot Henoch.

19And Jared lived after he begot Henoch, eight hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

20And all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.

21And Henoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Mathusala.

22And Henoch walked with God: and lived after he begot Mathusala, three hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

23And all the days of Henoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.

24And he walked with God, and was seen no more: because God took him.

25And Mathusala lived a hundred and eighty-seven years, and begot Lamech.

26And Mathusala lived after he begot Lamech, seven hundred and eighty-two years, and begot sons and daughters.

27And all the days of Mathusala were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.

28And Lamech lived a hundred and eighty-two years, and begot a son.

29And he called his name Noe, saying: This same shall comfort us from the works and labours of our hands on the earth, which the Lord hath cursed.

30And Lamech lived after he begot Noe, five hundred and ninety-five years, and begot sons and daughters.

31And all the days of Lamech came to seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died.

32And Noe, when he was five hundred years old, begot Sem, Cham, and Japheth.
