Ezequiel 22

1Me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahvé, que dijo:

2“Tú, hijo de hombre, ¿no vas a juzgar? ¿No quieres juzgar a la ciudad sanguinaria? ¿No le mostrarás todas sus abominaciones?

3Dirás: Así habla Yahvé, el Señor: Tú eres una ciudad, la cual derrama sangre dentro de sus propios muros, hasta que llegue su día, y que ha fabricado ídolos contra sí misma para contaminarse.

4Por la sangre que has derramado, te has hecho culpable, y con los ídolos que has hecho te has contaminado; has apresurado tus días de castigo y has llegado al término de tus años. Por eso te he convertido en el oprobio de los gentiles y en el escarnio de todos los países.

5Los que están cerca de ti y los que están lejos, te insultan, porque con tu grande corrupción has manchado tu nombre.

6He aquí que los príncipes de Israel, cada cual según su poder, no hacen otra cosa que derramar sangre en medio de ti.

7En ti se desprecia al padre y a la madre, y en ti tratan con violencia al extranjero, en ti oprimen al huérfano y a la viuda.

8Tu desprecias mi santuario y profanas mis sábados.

9Hay en ti hombres que usan de calumnias para derramar sangre, y en ti hay quienes banquetean sobre los montes; crímenes se cometen en medio de ti.

10En ti se descubre la desnudez del padre, y en ti se hace violencia a la mujer en la inmundicia de su impureza.

11En ti uno comete abominación con la mujer de su prójimo, otro amancilla incestuosamente a su nuera, y otro hace violencia a su hermana, la hija de su padre.

12En ti aceptan soborno para derramar sangre; tú cobras usura e interés, despojas a tus vecinos por medio de opresión, y a Mí me echaste en olvido, dice Yahvé, el Señor.

13He aquí que Yo he batido mis palmas a causa de las ganancias injustas que has hecho y por la sangre que se ha derramado en ti.

14¿Podrá mantenerse firme tu corazón, o serán fuertes tus manos en los días que Yo te preparo? Yo, Yahvé, he hablado y cumpliré.

15Yo te dispersaré entre los gentiles, te desparramaré por los países y quitaré de ti tu inmundicia.

16Serás profanada en tu propio país, a la vista de los gentiles; y conocerás que Yo soy Yahvé.”

17Y me llegó la palabra de Yahvé en estos términos.

18“Hijo de hombre, la casa de Israel se me ha convertido en escoria; todos ellos son bronce, estaño, hierro y plomo en medio del horno; no son más que escoria de plata.

19Por eso, así dice Yahvé, el Señor: Porque habéis venido a ser todos como escoria, por tanto, he aquí que Yo os recogeré en medio de Jerusalén.

20Como quien reúne plata y bronce y hierro y plomo y estaño en medio del horno, y sopla allí el fuego para fundirlos, así Yo os juntaré en mi ira y mi indignación; os dejaré allí y os fundiré.

21Os reuniré y soplaré sobre vosotros el fuego de mi ira, y en medio de (Jerusalén) seréis fundidos.

22Como se derrite la plata en el horno, así seréis derretidos en medio de ella; y conoceréis que Yo, Yahvé, he derramado mi ira sobre vosotros.”

23Me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahvé, que dijo:

24“Hijo de hombre, dile a ella: Tú eres una tierra que no ha sido purificada y no ha sido lavada por la lluvia en el día de la indignación.

25Hay en medio de ella una conjuración de sus profetas. Como león rugiente que arrebata la presa, así devoran ellos las almas, se apoderan de los bienes y tesoros y multiplican el número de viudas en medio de ella.

26Sus sacerdotes violan mi Ley y profanan mi Santuario, no distinguen entre lo sagrado y lo profano, no enseñan a distinguir entre lo inmundo y lo puro, cierran sus ojos ante (las violaciones de) mis sábados, y Yo soy deshonrado entre ellos.

27Sus príncipes están en medio de ella como lobos: arrebatan la presa para derramar sangre y destruir almas, con el fin de obtener ganancias injustas.

28Sus profetas los revocan con barro, viendo vanidades y vaticinándoles mentiras, diciendo: «Así dice Yahvé, el Señor», cuando Yahvé no ha hablado.

29El pueblo del país practica la opresión y el robo, oprimiendo al pobre y al menesteroso y haciendo violencia e injusticia al extranjero.

30Busqué entre ellos un varón que construyese un vallado, y que se pusiese en la brecha frente a Mí, en favor de la tierra, a fin de que Yo no la devastase; mas no lo hallé.

31Por eso derramaré sobre ellos mi cólera, los consumiré con el fuego de mi ira y echaré sus obras sobre su cabeza”, dice Yahvé, el Señor.

1Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens:

2Et tu, fili hominis, nonne judicas, nonne judicas civitatem sanguinum?

3Et ostendes ei omnes abominationes suas, et dices: Hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Civitas effundens sanguinem in medio sui, ut veniat tempus ejus: et quæ fecit idola contra semetipsam, ut pollueretur.

4In sanguine tuo, qui a te effusus est, deliquisti, et in idolis tuis, quæ fecisti, polluta es: et appropinquare fecisti dies tuos, et adduxisti tempus annorum tuorum: propterea dedi te opprobrium gentibus, et irrisionem universis terris.

5Quæ juxta sunt, et quæ procul a te, triumphabunt de te, sordida, nobilis, grandis interitu.

6Ecce principes Israël singuli in brachio suo fuerunt in te, ad effundendum sanguinem.

7Patrem et matrem contumeliis affecerunt: in te advenam calumniati sunt in medio tui: pupillum et viduam contristaverunt apud te.

8Sanctuaria mea sprevisti, et sabbata mea polluisti.

9Viri detractores fuerunt in te ad effundendum sanguinem, et super montes comederunt in te: scelus operati sunt in medio tui.

10Verecundiora patris discooperuerunt in te; immunditiam menstruatæ humiliaverunt in te:

11et unusquisque in uxorem proximi sui operatus est abominationem, et socer nurum suam polluit nefarie: frater sororem suam, filiam patris sui, oppressit in te.

12Munera acceperunt apud te ad effundendum sanguinem: usuram et superabundantiam accepisti, et avare proximos tuos calumniabaris: meique oblita es, ait Dominus Deus.

13Ecce complosi manus meas super avaritiam tuam quam fecisti, et super sanguinem qui effusus est in medio tui.

14Numquid sustinebit cor tuum, aut prævalebunt manus tuæ, in diebus quos ego faciam tibi? Ego Dominus locutus sum, et faciam.

15Et dispergam te in nationes, et ventilabo te in terras, et deficere faciam immunditiam tuam a te.

16Et possidebo te in conspectu gentium: et scies quia ego Dominus.

17Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens:

18Fili hominis, versa est mihi domus Israël in scoriam: omnes isti æs, et stannum, et ferrum, et plumbum in medio fornacis: scoria argenti facti sunt.

19Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Eo quod versi estis omnes in scoriam, propterea ecce ego congregabo vos in medio Jerusalem,

20congregatione argenti, et æris, et stanni, et ferri, et plumbi, in medio fornacis, ut succendam in ea ignem ad conflandum. Sic congregabo in furore meo, et in ira mea: et requiescam, et conflabo vos.

21Et congregabo vos, et succendam vos in igne furoris mei, et conflabimini in medio ejus.

22Ut conflatur argentum in medio fornacis, sic eritis in medio ejus: et scietis quia ego Dominus cum effuderim indignationem meam super vos.

23Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens:

24Fili hominis, dic ei: Tu es terra immunda, et non compluta in die furoris.

25Conjuratio prophetarum in medio ejus: sicut leo rugiens, rapiensque prædam, animas devoraverunt: opes et pretium acceperunt: viduas ejus multiplicaverunt in medio illius.

26Sacerdotes ejus contempserunt legem meam, et polluerunt sanctuaria mea: inter sanctum et profanum non habuerunt distantiam, et inter pollutum et mundum non intellexerunt: et a sabbatis meis averterunt oculos suos, et coinquinabar in medio eorum.

27Principes ejus in medio illius quasi lupi rapientes prædam ad effundendum sanguinem, et ad perdendas animas, et avare ad sectanda lucra.

28Prophetæ autem ejus liniebant eos absque temperamento, videntes vana, et divinantes eis mendacium, dicentes: Hæc dicit Dominus Deus: cum Dominus non sit locutus.

29Populi terræ calumniabantur calumniam, et rapiebant violenter: egenum et pauperem affligebant, et advenam opprimebant calumnia absque judicio.

30Et quæsivi de eis virum qui interponeret sepem, et staret oppositus contra me pro terra, ne dissiparem eam: et non inveni.

31Et effudi super eos indignationem meam; in igne iræ meæ consumpsi eos: viam eorum in caput eorum reddidi, ait Dominus Deus.

1And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2And thou son of man, dost thou not judge, dost thou not judge the city of blood?

3And thou shalt shew her all her abominations, and shalt say: Thus saith the Lord God: This is the city that sheddeth blood in the midst of her, that her time may come: and that hath made idols against herself, to defile herself.

4Thou art become guilty in thy blood which thou hast shed: and thou art defiled in thy idols which thou hast made: and thou hast made thy days to draw near, and hast brought on the time of thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach to the Gentiles, and a mockery to all countries.

5Those that are near, and those that are far from thee, shall triumph over thee: thou filthy one, infamous, great in destruction.

6Behold the princes of Israel, every one hath employed his arm in thee to shed blood.

7They have abused father and mother in thee, they have oppressed the stranger in the midst of thee, they have grieved the fatherless and widow in thee.

8Thou hast despised my sanctuaries, and profaned my sabbaths.

9Slanderers have been in thee to shed blood, and they have eaten upon the mountains in thee, they have committed wickedness in the midst of thee.

10They have discovered the nakedness of their father in thee, they have humbled the uncleanness of the menstruous woman in thee.

11And every one hath committed abomination with his neighbour’s wife, and the father in law hath wickedly defiled his daughter in law, the brother hath oppressed his sister the daughter of his father in thee.

12They have taken gifts in thee to shed blood: thou hast taken usury and increase, and hast covetously oppressed thy neighbours: and then hast forgotten me, saith the Lord God.

13Behold, I have clapped my hands at thy covetousness, which thou hast exercised and at the blood that hath been shed: In the midst of thee.

14Shall thy heart endure, or shall thy hands prevail ill the days which I will bring upon thee: I the Lord have spoken, and will do it.

15And I will disperse thee in the nations, and will scatter thee among the countries, and I will put an end to thy uncleanness in thee.

16And I will possess thee in the sight of the Gentiles, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

17And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

18Son of man, the house of Israel is become dress to me: all these are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace: they are become the dress of silver.

19Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Because you are all turned into dress, therefore behold I will gather you together in the midst of Jerusalem.

20As they gather silver, and brass, and tin, and iron, and lead in the midst of the furnace: that I may kindle a fire in it to melt it: so will I gather you together in my fury and in my wrath, and will take my rest, and I will melt you down.

21And I will gather you together, and will burn you in the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted in the midst thereof.

22As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall you be in the midst thereof: and you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have poured out my indignation upon you.

23And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

24Son of man, say to her: Thou art a land that is unclean, and not rained upon in the day of wrath.

25There is a conspiracy of prophets in the midst thereof: like a lion that roareth and catcheth the prey, they have devoured souls, they have taken riches and hire, they have made many widows in the midst thereof.

26Her priests have despised my law, and have defiled my sanctuaries: they have put no difference between holy and profane: nor have distinguished between the polluted and the clean: and they have turned away their eyes from my sabbaths, and I was profaned in the midst of them.

27Her princes in the midst of her, are like wolves ravening the prey to shed blood, and to destroy souls, and to run after gains through covetousness.

28And her prophets have daubed them without tempering the mortar, seeing vain things, and divining lies unto them, saying: Thus saith the Lord God: when the Lord hath not spoken.

29The people of the land have used oppression, and committed robbery: they afflicted the needy and poor, and they oppressed the stranger by calumny without judgment.

30And I sought among them for a man that might set up a hedge, and stand in the gap before me in favour of the land, that I might not destroy it: and I found none.

31And I poured out my indignation upon them, in the fire of my wrath I consumed them: I have rendered their way upon their own head, saith the Lord God.
