1Genealogía de Jesucristo, hijo de David, hijo de Abrahán:

2Abrahán engendró a Isaac; Isaac engendró a Jacob; Jacob engendró a Judá y a sus hermanos;

3Judá engendró a Farés y a Zara, de Tamar; Farés engendró a Esrom; Esrom engendró a Aram;

4Aram engendró a Aminadab; Aminadab engendró a Naasón; Naasón engendró a Salmón;

5Salmón engendró a Booz, de Racab; Booz engendró a Obed, de Rut; Obed engendró a Jesé;

6Jesé engendró al rey David; David engendró a Salomón, de aquella ( que había sido mujer) de Urías;

7Salomón engendró a Roboam; Roboam engendró a Abía; Abía engendró a Asaf;

8Asaf engendró a Josafat; Josafat engendró a Joram; Joram engendró a Ozías;

9Ozías engendró a Joatam; Joatam engendró a Acaz; Acaz engendró a Ezequías;

10Ezequías engendró a Manasés; Manasés engendró a Amón; Amón engendró a Josías;

11Josías engendró a Jeconías y a sus hermanos, por el tiempo de la deportación a Babilonia.

12Después de la deportación a Babilonia, Jeconías engendró a Salatiel; Salatiel engendró a Zorobabel;

13Zorobabel engendró a Abiud; Abiud engendró a Eliaquim; Eliaquim engendró a Azor;

14Azor engendró a Sadoc; Sadoc engendró a Aquim; Aquim engendró a Eliud;

15Eliud engendró a Eleazar; Eleazar engendró a Matán; Matán engendró a Jacob;

16Jacob engendró a José, el esposo de María, de la cual nació Jesús, el llamado Cristo.

17Así que todas las generaciones son: desde Abrahán hasta David, catorce generaciones; desde David hasta la deportación a Babilonia, catorce generaciones; desde la deportación a Babilonia hasta Cristo, catorce generaciones.

18La generación de Jesucristo fue como sigue: Desposada su madre María con José, se halló antes de vivir juntos ellos, que había concebido del Espíritu Santo.

19José, su esposo, como era justo y no quería delatarla, se proponía despedirla en secreto.

20Mas mientras andaba con este pensamiento, he aquí que un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños y le dijo: “José, hijo de David, no temas recibir a María tu esposa, porque su concepción es del Espíritu Santo.

21Dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrás por nombre Jesús ( Salvador), porque Él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados”.

22Todo esto sucedió para que se cumpliese la palabra que había dicho el Señor por el profeta:

23Ved ahí que la virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrán el nombre de Emmanuel, que se traduce: “Dios con nosotros”.

24Cuando despertó del sueño, hizo José como el ángel del Señor le había mandado, y recibió a su esposa.

25Y sin que la conociera, dio ella a luz un hijo y le puso por nombre Jesús.

4Aram autem genuit Aminadab. Aminadab autem genuit Naasson. Naasson autem genuit Salmon.

5Salmon autem genuit Booz de Rahab. Booz autem genuit Obed ex Ruth. Obed autem genuit Jesse. Jesse autem genuit David regem.

6David autem rex genuit Salomonem ex ea quæ fuit Uriæ.

8Asa autem genuit Josophat. Josophat autem genuit Joram. Joram autem genuit Oziam.

9Ozias autem genuit Joatham. Joatham autem genuit Achaz. Achaz autem genuit Ezechiam.

10Ezechias autem genuit Manassen. Manasses autem genuit Amon. Amon autem genuit Josiam.

11Josias autem genuit Jechoniam, et fratres ejus in transmigratione Babylonis.

12Et post transmigrationem Babylonis: Jechonias genuit Salathiel. Salathiel autem genuit Zorobabel.

13Zorobabel autem genuit Abiud. Abiud autem genuit Eliacim. Eliacim autem genuit Azor.

14Azor autem genuit Sadoc. Sadoc autem genuit Achim. Achim autem genuit Eliud.

15Eliud autem genuit Eleazar. Eleazar autem genuit Mathan. Mathan autem genuit Jacob.

16Jacob autem genuit Joseph virum Mariæ, de qua natus est Jesus, qui vocatur Christus.

17Omnes itaque generationes ab Abraham usque ad David, generationes quatuordecim: et a David usque ad transmigrationem Babylonis, generationes quatuordecim: et a transmigratione Babylonis usque ad Christum, generationes quatuordecim.

18Christi autem generatio sic erat: cum esset desponsata mater ejus Maria Joseph, antequam convenirent inventa est in utero habens de Spiritu Sancto.

19Joseph autem vir ejus cum esset justus, et nollet eam traducere, voluit occulte dimittere eam.

20Hæc autem eo cogitante, ecce angelus Domini apparuit in somnis ei, dicens: Joseph, fili David, noli timere accipere Mariam conjugem tuam: quod enim in ea natum est, de Spiritu Sancto est.

21Pariet autem filium: et vocabis nomen ejus Jesum: ipse enim salvum faciet populum suum a peccatis eorum.

22Hoc autem totum factum est, ut adimpleretur quod dictum est a Domino per prophetam dicentem:

23Ecce virgo in utero habebit, et pariet filium: et vocabunt nomen ejus Emmanuel, quod est interpretatum Nobiscum Deus.

24Exsurgens autem Joseph a somno, fecit sicut præcepit ei angelus Domini, et accepit conjugem suam.

25Et non cognoscebat eam donec peperit filium suum primogenitum: et vocavit nomen ejus Jesum.

10And Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manesses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias.

11And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon.

12And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.

13And Zorobabel begot Abiud. And Abiud begot Eliacim. And Eliacim begot Azor.

14And Azor begot Sadoc. And Sadoc begot Achim. And Achim begot Eliud.

15And Eliud begot Eleazar. And Eleazar begot Mathan. And Mathan begot Jacob.

16And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

17So all the generations, from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.

18Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.

19Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately.

20But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost.

21And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he shall save his people from their sins.

22Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying:

23Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife.

25And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
