Números 3

1He aquí los descendientes de Aarón y de Moisés, el día en que Yahvé habló con Moisés en el monte Sinaí.

2Y he aquí los nombres de los hijos de Aarón: Nadab, el primogénito; Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar.

3Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes ungidos y consagrados para el sacerdocio.

4Nadab y Abiú murieron delante de Yahvé cuando en el desierto del Sinaí llevaron a la presencia de Yahvé un fuego extraño, y no tuvieron hijos. Eleazar e Itamar ejercieron el oficio de sacerdotes a las órdenes de su padre Aarón.

5Yahvé habló a Moisés, diciendo:

6“Manda que se acerque la tribu de Leví, y preséntala delante del sacerdote Aarón para que le sirvan.

7Ellos se encargarán de las obligaciones de Aarón y de toda la Congregación respecto del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, ejerciendo el servicio de la Morada.

8Guardarán todos los utensilios del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, y se encargarán de los trabajos de los hijos de Israel en el servicio de la Morada.

9Darás, pues, los levitas a Aarón y a sus hijos; a él le serán enteramente entregados por parte de los hijos de Israel.

10Encargarás a Aarón y a sus hijos que se ocupen (exclusivamente) de su sacerdocio; el extraño que se acercare morirá.”

11Habló Yahvé a Moisés, diciendo:

12“He aquí que Yo he tomado a los levitas de en medio de los hijos de Israel, en lugar de todos los primogénitos que abren el seno de su madre. Los levitas son míos.

13Porque todos los primogénitos son míos; el día en que Yo herí a todo primogénito en la tierra de Egipto, santifiqué para Mí todos los primogénitos de Israel, tanto de hombres como de animales, míos son. Yo, Yahvé.”

14Yahvé habló a Moisés en el desierto del Sinaí, diciendo:

15“Haz el censo de los hijos de Leví según sus casas paternas y según sus familias, contando a todos los varones de un mes para arriba.”

16Moisés los contó según la orden de Yahvé, tal como le fue mandado.

17He aquí los hijos de Leví por sus nombres: Gersón, Caat y Merarí.

18Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Gersón, según sus familias: Libní y Simeí.

19Los hijos de Caat, según sus familias: Amram, Isar, Hebrón y Usiel.

20Los hijos de Merarí, según sus familias: Mahalí y Musí. Estas son las familias de los levitas, según sus casas paternas:

21De Gersón descienden la familia de los libnitas y la de los simeítas. Estas son las familias de los gersonitas.

22Sus empadronados, contando a todos los varones, de un mes para arriba, fueron, según el censo, siete mil quinientos.

23Las familias de los gersonitas acampaban detrás de la Morada, al poniente.

24El príncipe de la casa paterna de los gersonitas era Eliasaf, hijo de Lael.

25Los hijos de Gersón tenían a su cargo en el Tabernáculo de la Reunión el cuidado de la Morada y del Tabernáculo, su cubierta, la cortina de la entrada del Tabernáculo de la Reunión,

26las cortinas del atrio, la cortina de la entrada del atrio que rodea la Morada y el altar, y las cuerdas para todo su servicio.

27De Caat descienden la familia de los amramitas, la familia de los isaritas, la familia de los hebronitas, y la familia de los usielitas. Estas son las familias de los caatitas.

28El número de todos sus varones, de un mes para arriba, fue de ocho mil seiscientos, encargados del servicio del Santuario.

29Las familias de los hijos de Caat acampaban al costado de la Morada, en el flanco meridional.

30El príncipe de la casa paterna de las familias de los caatitas era Elisafán, hijo de Usiel.

31Ellos tenían a su cargo el Arca, la mesa, el candelabro, los altares, los utensilios del Santuario que se usan en el ministerio, el velo y todo lo perteneciente a su servicio.

32El primer príncipe de los levitas era Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, que tenía la superintendencia de los encargados del cuidado del Santuario.

33De Merarí descienden la familia de los mahalitas y la de los musitas: estas son las familias de Merarí.

34Sus empadronados, contando a todos los varones, de un mes para arriba, fueron seis mil doscientos.

35El príncipe de la casa paterna de las familias de Merarí era Suriel, hijo de Abihail. Estos acampaban al lado norte de la Morada.

36Los hijos de Merarí tenían a su cargo el cuidado de los tablones de la Morada, de sus travesaños, columnas y basas, y de todos sus utensilios con todo lo perteneciente a su servicio;

37además de las columnas en torno al atrio, de sus basas, estacas y cuerdas.

38Frente a la Morada, al oriente, delante del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, por donde se levanta el sol, tenían sus tiendas Moisés y Aarón y los hijos de este, que custodiaban el Santuario en nombre de los hijos de Israel; el extraño que se acercaba era castigado con la muerte.

39El total de los levitas empadronados según sus familias por Moisés y Aarón, conforme a la orden de Yahvé, todos los varones de un mes para arriba, fue de veinte y dos mil.

40Yahvé dijo a Moisés: “Haz el censo de todos los varones primogénitos de los hijos de Israel, de un mes para arriba, y cuéntalos por sus nombres.

41Y tomarás para Mí a los levitas —Yo soy Yahvé— en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los hijos de Israel, y el ganado de los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos del ganado de los hijos de Israel.”

42Contó, pues, Moisés a todos los primogénitos de los hijos de Israel, como Yahvé se lo había mandado.

43Y fueron, según el censo, todos los varones primogénitos de un mes para arriba, contados por nombres, veinte y dos mil doscientos setenta y tres.

44Entonces habló Yahvé a Moisés, diciendo:

45“Toma a los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los hijos de Israel, y el ganado de los levitas en lugar del ganado de aquellos; y los levitas serán míos. Yo, Yahvé.

46Para el rescate de los doscientos setenta y tres primogénitos de los hijos de Israel que exceden del número de los levitas,

47tomarás cinco siclos por cabeza; los tomaras según el siclo del Santuario, que es de veinte güeras;

48y darás el dinero a Aarón y a sus hijos como rescate de los que sobrepasan el número de los levitas.”

49Y Moisés cobró el dinero del rescate a los que sobrepasaban el número de los rescatados por los levitas.

50Tomó el dinero de parte de los primogénitos de los hijos de Israel: mil trescientos sesenta y cinco siclos, según el siclo del Santuario.

51Moisés dio el dinero del rescate a Aarón y a sus hijos, según la orden de Yahvé, como Yahvé había mandado a Moisés.

5Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens:

6Applica tribum Levi, et fac stare in conspectu Aaron sacerdotis ut ministrent ei, et excubent,

7et observent quidquid ad cultum pertinet multitudinis coram tabernaculo testimonii,

8et custodiant vasa tabernaculi, servientes in ministerio ejus.

9Dabisque dono Levitas

10Aaron et filiis ejus, quibus traditi sunt a filiis Israël. Aaron autem et filios ejus constitues super cultum sacerdotii. Externus, qui ad ministrandum accesserit, morietur.

11Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens:

12Ego tuli Levitas a filiis Israël pro omni primogenito, qui aperit vulvam in filiis Israël, eruntque Levitæ mei.

13Meum est enim omne primogenitum: ex quo percussi primogenitos in terra Ægypti, sanctificavi mihi quidquid primum nascitur in Israël: ab homine usque ad pecus, mei sunt. Ego Dominus.

14Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen in deserto Sinai, dicens:

15Numera filios Levi per domos patrum suorum et familias, omnem masculum ab uno mense et supra.

16Numeravit Moyses, ut præceperat Dominus,

17et inventi sunt filii Levi per nomina sua, Gerson et Caath et Merari.

18Filii Gerson: Lebni et Semei.

19Filii Caath: Amram et Jesaar, Hebron et Oziel.

20Filii Merari: Moholi et Musi.

21De Gerson fuere familiæ duæ, Lebnitica, et Semeitica:

22quarum numeratus est populus sexus masculini ab uno mense et supra, septem millia quingenti.

23Hi post tabernaculum metabuntur ad occidentem,

24sub principe Eliasaph filio Laël.

25Et habebunt excubias in tabernaculo fœderis,

26ipsum tabernaculum et operimentum ejus, tentorium quod trahitur ante fores tecti fœderis, et cortinas atrii: tentorium quoque quod appenditur in introitu atrii tabernaculi, et quidquid ad ritum altaris pertinet, funes tabernaculi et omnia utensilia ejus.

27Cognatio Caath habebit populos Amramitas et Jesaaritas et Hebronitas et Ozielitas. Hæ sunt familiæ Caathitarum recensitæ per nomina sua.

28Omnes generis masculini ab uno mense et supra, octo millia sexcenti habebunt excubias sanctuarii,

29et castrametabuntur ad meridianam plagam.

30Princepsque eorum erit Elisaphan filius Oziel:

31et custodient arcam, mensamque et candelabrum, altaria et vasa sanctuarii, in quibus ministratur, et velum, cunctamque hujuscemodi supellectilem.

32Princeps autem principum Levitarum Eleazar filius Aaron sacerdotis, erit super excubitores custodiæ sanctuarii.

33At vero de Merari erunt populi Moholitæ et Musitæ recensiti per nomina sua:

34omnes generis masculini ab uno mense et supra, sex millia ducenti.

35Princeps eorum Suriel filius Abihaiel: in plaga septentrionali castrametabuntur.

36Erunt sub custodia eorum tabulæ tabernaculi et vectes, et columnæ ac bases earum, et omnia quæ ad cultum hujuscemodi pertinent:

37columnæque atrii per circuitum cum basibus suis, et paxilli cum funibus.

38Castrametabuntur ante tabernaculum fœderis, id est, ad orientalem plagam, Moyses et Aaron cum filiis suis, habentes custodiam sanctuarii in medio filiorum Israël. Quisquis alienus accesserit, morietur.

39Omnes Levitæ, quos numeraverunt Moyses et Aaron juxta præceptum Domini per familias suas in genere masculino a mense uno et supra, fuerunt viginti duo millia.

40Et ait Dominus ad Moysen: Numera primogenitos sexus masculini de filiis Israël ab uno mense et supra, et habebis summam eorum.

41Tollesque Levitas mihi pro omni primogenito filiorum Israël: ego sum Dominus: et pecora eorum pro universis primogenitis pecorum filiorum Israël.

42Recensuit Moyses, sicut præceperat Dominus, primogenitos filiorum Israël:

43et fuerunt masculi per nomina sua, a mense uno et supra, viginti duo millia ducenti septuaginta tres.

44Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens:

45Tolle Levitas pro primogenitis filiorum Israël, et pecora Levitarum pro pecoribus eorum, eruntque Levitæ mei. Ego sum Dominus.

46In pretio autem ducentorum septuaginta trium, qui excedunt numerum Levitarum de primogenitis filiorum Israël,

47accipies quinque siclos per singula capita ad mensuram sanctuarii (siclus habet viginti obolos):

48dabisque pecuniam Aaron et filiis ejus pretium eorum qui supra sunt.

49Tulit igitur Moyses pecuniam eorum, qui fuerant amplius, et quos redemerant a Levitis,

50pro primogenitis filiorum Israël, mille trecentorum sexaginta quinque siclorum juxta pondus sanctuarii:

51et dedit eam Aaron et filiis ejus juxta verbum quod præceperat sibi Dominus.

1These are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the Lord spoke to Moses in mount Sinai.

2And these the names of the sons of Aaron: his firstborn Nadab, then Abiu, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.

3These the names of the sons of Aaron the priests that were anointed, and whose hands were filled and consecrated, to do the functions of priesthood.

4Now Nadab and Abiu died, without children, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the desert of Sinai: and Eleazar and Ithamar performed the priestly office in the presence of Aaron their father.

5And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

6Bring the tribe of Levi, and make them stand in the sight of Aaron the priest to minister to him, and let them watch,

7And observe whatsoever appertaineth to the service of the multitude before the tabernacle of the testimony,

8And let them keep the vessels of the tabernacle, serving in the ministry thereof.

9And thou shalt give the Levites for a gift,

10To Aaron and to his sons, to whom they are delivered by the children of Israel. But thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons over the service of priesthood. The stranger that approacheth to minister, shall be put to death.

11And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

12I have taken the Levites from the children of Israel, for every firstborn that openeth the womb among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.

13For every firstborn is mine: since I struck the firstborn in the land of Egypt: I have sanctified to myself whatsoever is firstborn in Israel both of man and beast, they are mine: I am the Lord.

14And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, saying:

15Number the sons of Levi by the houses of their fathers and their families, every male from one month and upward.

16Moses numbered them as the Lord had commanded.

17And there were found sons of Levi by their names, Gerson and Caath and Merari.

18The sons of Gerson: Lebni and Semei.

19The sons of Caath: Amram, and Jesaar, Hebron and Oziel:

20The sons of Merari: Moholi and Musi.

21Of Gerson were two families, the Lebnites, and the Semeites:

22Of which were numbered, people of the male sex from one month and upward, seven thousand five hundred.

23These shall pitch behind the tabernacle on the west,

24Under their prince Eliasaph the son of Lael.

25And their charge shall be in the tabernacle of the covenant:

26The tabernacle itself and the cover thereof, the hanging that is drawn before the doors of the tabernacle of the covenant, and the curtains of the court: the hanging also that is hanged in the entry of the court of the tabernacle, and whatsoever belongeth to the rite of the altar, the cords of the tabernacle, and all the furniture thereof.

27Of the kindred of Caath come the families of the Amramites and Jesaarites and Hebronites and Ozielites. These are the families of the Caathites reckoned up by their names:

28All of the male sex from one month and upward, eight thousand six hundred: they shall have the guard of the sanctuary,

29And shall camp on the south side.

30And their prince shall be Elisaphan the son of Oziel:

31And they shall keep the ark, and the table and the candlestick, the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary, wherewith they minister, and the veil, and all the furniture of this kind.

32And the prince of the princes of the Levites, Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, shall be over them that watch for the guard of the sanctuary.

33And of Merari are the families of the Moholites, and Musites, reckoned up by their names:

34All of the male kind from one month and upward, six thousand two hundred.

35Their prince Suriel the son of Abihaiel: they shall camp on the north side.

36Under their custody shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars, and the pillars and their sockets, and all things that pertain to this kind of service:

37And the pillars of the court round about with their sockets, and the pins with their cords.

38Before the tabernacle of the covenant, that is to say on the east side, shall Moses and Aaron camp, with their sons, having the custody of the sanctuary, in the midst of the children of Israel. What stranger soever cometh unto it, shall be put to death.

39All the Levites, that Moses and Aaron numbered according to the precept of the Lord, by their families, of the male kind from one month and upward, were twenty-two thousand.

40And the Lord said to Moses: Number the firstborn of the male sex of the children of Israel, from one month and upward, and thou shalt take the sum of them.

41And thou shalt take the Levites to me for all the firstborn of the children of Israel, I am the Lord: and their cattle for all the firstborn of the cattle of the children of Israel:

42Moses reckoned up, as the Lord had commanded, the firstborn of the children of Israel:

43And the males by their names, from one month and upward, were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.

44And the Lord spoke to Moses, saving:

45Take the Levites for the firstborn of the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites for their cattle, and the Levites shall be mine. I am the Lord.

46But for the price of the two hundred and seventy-three, of the firstborn of the children of Israel, that exceed the number of the Levites,

47Thou shalt take five sides for every head, according to the weight of the sanctuary. A sicle hath twenty obols.

48And then shalt give the money to Aaron and his sons, the price of them that are above.

49Moses therefore took the money of them that were above, and whom they had redeemed from the Levites,

50For the firstborn of the children of Israel, one thousand three hundred and sixty-five sicles, according to the weight of the sanctuary,

51And gave it to Aaron and his sons, according to the word that the Lord had commanded him.
