4Eleazar generò Phinees, e Phinees generò Abisue,

5Abisue generò Bocci, e Bocci generò Ozi,

6Ozi generò Zaraia, e Zaraia generò Meraioth,

7Meraioth generò Amaria, e Amaria generò Achitob,

8Achitob generò Sadoc, e Sadoc generò Achimaas,

10Johanan generò Azaria: egli esercitò le funzioni del Sacerdozio nel tempio edificato da Salomone in Gerusalemme.

15Josedec cambiò paese, quando il Signore trasportò il popol di Giuda, e di Gerusalemme per le mani di Nabucodònosor.

16Figliuoli adunque di Levi furono Gerson, Caath, e Merari.

17E i nomi de' figliuoli di Gerson sono Lobni, e Semei.

18Figliuoli di Caath: Amram, e Isaar, ed Hebron, e Oziel.

19Figliuoli di Merari: Moholi, e Musi. Ed ecco la discendenza di Levi secondo le sue famiglie.

20Di Gerson nacque Lobni, di Lobni Jahath, di Jahath Zamma,

21Di Zamma Joah, di Joah Addo, di Addo Zara, di Zara Jethrai.

22Figliuoli di Caath: Aminadab fu suo figliuolo, Core figliuolo di Aminadab, Asir di Core,

23Elcana di Asir, Abiasaph di Elcana, Asir di Abiasaph,

24Thahath di Asir, Uriel di Thahath, Ozia di Uriel, Saul figliuolo di Ozia.

25Figliuoli di Elcana: Amasai, e Achimoth, ed Elcana.

26Figliuoli di Elcana: Sophai suo figliuolo, Nahath figliuolo di Sophai,

31Questi sono quelli, a' quali Davidde diede la soprintendenza sopra i cantori della casa del Signore, dopo che fu messa al suo posto l'arca.

32Ed ei facevano il loro uffizio cantando dinanzi al tabernacolo del testimonio, sino a tanto che Salomone ebbe edificata la casa del Signore in Gerusalemme: ed eglino esercitavano il lor ministero secondo il loro turno.

33Ed ecco quelli, che servivano insieme co' loro figliuoli: dei figliuoli di Caath, Heman era cantore; egli era figliuolo di Joel, figliuolo di Samuel,

34Figliuolo di Elcana, figliuolo di Jeroham, figliuolo di Eliei, figliuolo di Thohu,

35Figliuolo di Suph, figliuolo di Elcana, figliuolo di Mahath, figliuolo di Amasai,

36Figliuolo di Elcana, figliuolo di Johel, figliuolo di Azaria, figliuolo di Sophonia,

37Figliuolo di Thahath, figliuolo di Asir, figliuolo di Abiasaph, figliuolo di Core,

38Figliuolo d'Isaar, figliuolo di Caath, figliuolo di Levi, figliuolo d'Israel.

39E il suo fratello Asaph stava alla sua destra: Asaph era figliuolo di Barachia, figliuolo di Samaa,

40Figliuolo di Michael, figliuolo di Basaia, figliuolo di Melchia,

41Figliuolo di Athanai, figliuolo di Zara, figliuolo di Adaia,

44I loro fratelli figliuoli di Merari erano alla sinistra: Ethan figliuolo di Chusi, figliuolo di Abdi, figliuolo di Maloch,

45Figliuolo di Hasabia, figliuolo di Amasia, figliuolo di Helcia,

46Figliuolo di Amasai, figliuolo di Boni, figliuolo di Somer,

47Figliuolo di Moholi, figliuolo di Musi, figliuolo di Merari, figliuolo di Levi.

48E i loro fratelli Leviti eran destinati a fare tutto il servizio del tabernacolo della casa del Signore.

49Ma Aaronne, e i suoi figliuoli mettevano a bruciare le vittime sopra l'altare degli olocausti, e sopra l'altare de' profumi in tutto quello, che riguardava il Santo de' Santi, e facevano orazione per Israele secondo tutto quello, che aveva ordinato Mosè servo di Dio.

50Or questi sono i figliuoli d'Aaron: Eleazar suo figliuolo, Phinees figliuolo di Eleazaro, Abisai di Phinees,

51Bocci di Abisai, Ozi di Bocci, Zarahia di Ozi,

52Meraioth di Zarahia, Amaria di Meraioth, Achitob di Amaria.

53Sadoc di Achitob, Achimaas di Sadoc.

54Ed ecco i luoghi, dove questi figliuoli d'Aaron abitavano, viene a dire, i borghi, e luoghi all'intorno, che erano toccati ad essi in sorte, principiando dalle famiglie di Caath.

55Fu dunque ad essi assegnata Hebron nella tribù di Giuda, e i borghi all'intorno.

56Ma i campi della città, e i villaggi furono di Caleb figliuolo di Jephone.

57Furono ancora date a' figliuoli d'Aaron delle città, Hebron (città di rifugio), e Lobna co' suoi sobborghi,

58E Jether, ed Esthemo co' loro sobborghi: e anche Helon, e Dabir co' loro sobborghi.

59E parimente Asan, e Bethsemes co' loro sobborghi.

60E della tribù di Benjamin fu data loro Gabee co' suoi sobborghi, e Almath co' suoi sobborghi, e Anathoth co' suoi sobborghi: tredici città divise tralle loro famiglie.

61E a quei, che restavano de' figliuoli di Caath, e alle loro famiglie dettero dieci città della mezza tribù di Manasse.

62E a' figliuoli di Gersom, e alle loro famiglie furono assegnate tredici città della tribù d'Issachar, e della tribù di Aser, e della tribù di Nephthali, e della mezza tribù di Manasse, che era in Basan.

63E ai figliuoli di Merari, e alle loro famiglie diedero a sorte dodici città della tribù di Ruben, e della tribù di Gad, e della tribù di Zàbulon.

64Parimente dettero i figliuoli d'Israele ai Leviti delle città co' loro sobborghi:

65E le diedero loro a sorte nella tribù de' figliuoli di Giuda, e nella tribù de' figliuoli di Simeon, e nella tribù de' figliuoli di Beniamin, alle quali città dieder quegli i propri loro nomi:

66E parimente quelli della stirpe di Caath ebbero in loro dominio delle città della tribù di Ephraim.

67Diedero adunque ad essi Sichem (città del rifugio) co' suoi sobborghi sul monte Ephraim, e Gazer co' suoi sobborghi:

68E Jechmaan co' suoi sobborghi, e parimente Bethoron,

69E anche Helon co' suoi sobborghi, e Gethremmon nella stessa maniera.

70E nella mezza tribù di Manasse fu assegnata Aner co' suoi sobborghi, e Baalam co' suoi sobborghi a quei che restavano della stirpe de' figliuoli di Caath.

71E i figliuoli della stirpe di Gersom ebbero nella mezza tribù di Manasse Gaulon in Basan co' suoi sobborghi, e Astharoth co' suoi sobborghi.

72Nella tribù d'Issachar, Cedes co' suoi sobborghi, e Dabereth co' suoi sobborghi,

73E anche Ramoth co' suoi sobborghi, e Anem co' suoi sobborghi.

74E nella tribù di Aser, Masal co' suoi sobborghi, e parimente Abdon,

75E anche Hucac co' suoi sobborghi, e Rohob co' suoi sobborghi.

76E nella tribù di Nephthali, Cedes nella Galilea co' suoi sobborghi, Hamon co' suoi sobborghi, e Canathaim co' suoi sobborghi.

77E a quei, che restavano della stirpe de' figliuoli di Merari, diedero Remmono nella tribù di Zàbulon co' suoi sobborghi, e Thabor co' suoi sobborghi:

78E di là dal Giordano dirimpetto a Gerico, all'oriente del Giordano, ebbero nella tribù di Ruben, Bosor nel deserto co' suoi sobborghi, e Jassa co' suoi sobborghi;

79E anche Cademoth co' suoi sobborghi, e Mephaat co' suoi sobborghi:

80E oltre a ciò nella tribù di Gad, Ramoth in Galaad co' suoi sobborghi, e Manaim co' suoi sobborghi,

81E anche Hesebon co' suoi sobborghi, e Jezer co' suoi sobborghi.

33Hi vero sunt qui assistebant cum filiis suis, de filiis Caath, Hemam cantor filius Johel, filii Samuel,

34filii Elcana, filii Jeroham, filii Eliel, filii Thohu,

35filii Suph, filii Elcana, filii Mahath, filii Amasai,

48Fratres quoque eorum Levitæ, qui ordinati sunt in cunctum ministerium tabernaculi domus Domini.

49Aaron vero et filii ejus adolebant incensum super altare holocausti, et super altare thymiamatis, in omne opus Sancti sanctorum: et ut precarentur pro Israël juxta omnia quæ præceperat Moyses servus Dei.

50Hi sunt autem filii Aaron: Eleazar filius ejus, Phinees filius ejus, Abisue filius ejus,

51Bocci filius ejus, Ozi filius ejus, Zarahia filius ejus,

52Meraioth filius ejus, Amarias filius ejus, Achitob filius ejus,

54Et hæc habitacula eorum per vicos atque confinia, filiorum scilicet Aaron, juxta cognationes Caathitarum: ipsis enim sorte contigerant.

55Dederunt igitur eis Hebron in terra Juda, et suburbana ejus per circuitum:

56agros autem civitatis, et villas, Caleb filio Jephone.

57Porro filiis Aaron dederunt civitates ad confugiendum Hebron, et Lobna, et suburbana ejus,

58Jether quoque, et Esthemo cum suburbanis suis, sed et Helon, et Dabir cum suburbanis suis,

59Asan quoque, et Bethsemes, et suburbana earum.

60De tribu autem Benjamin, Gabee et suburbana ejus, et Almath cum suburbanis suis, Anathoth quoque cum suburbanis suis: omnes civitates, tredecim, per cognationes suas.

61Filiis autem Caath residuis de cognatione sua dederunt ex dimidia tribu Manasse in possessionem urbes decem.

62Porro filiis Gersom per cognationes suas de tribu Issachar, et de tribu Aser, et de tribu Nephthali, et de tribu Manasse in Basan, urbes tredecim.

63Filiis autem Merari per cognationes suas de tribu Ruben, et de tribu Gad, et de tribu Zabulon, dederunt sorte civitates duodecim.

64Dederunt quoque filii Israël Levitis civitates, et suburbana earum:

65dederuntque per sortem, ex tribu filiorum Juda, et ex tribu filiorum Simeon, et ex tribu filiorum Benjamin urbes has, quas vocaverunt nominibus suis,

66et his, qui erant de cognatione filiorum Caath, fueruntque civitates in terminis eorum de tribu Ephraim.

67Dederunt ergo eis urbes ad confugiendum, Sichem cum suburbanis suis in monte Ephraim, et Gazer cum suburbanis suis,

68Jecmaam quoque cum suburbanis suis, et Bethoron similiter,

69necnon et Helon cum suburbanis suis, et Gethremmon in eumdem modum.

70Porro ex dimidia tribu Manasse, Aner et suburbana ejus, Balaam et suburbana ejus: his videlicet, qui de cognatione filiorum Caath reliqui erant.

71Filiis autem Gersom de cognatione dimidiæ tribus Manasse, Gaulon in Basan, et suburbana ejus, et Astaroth cum suburbanis suis.

72De tribu Issachar, Cedes et suburbanis suis, et Dabereth cum suburbanis suis,

73Ramoth quoque et suburbana ejus, et Anem cum suburbanis suis.

74De tribu vero Aser: Masal cum suburbanis suis, et Abdon similiter,

75Hucac quoque et suburbana ejus, et Rohob cum suburbanis suis.

76Porro de tribu Nephthali, Cedes in Galilæa et suburbana ejus, Hamon cum suburbanis suis, et Cariathaim et suburbana ejus.

77Filiis autem Merari residuis: de tribu Zabulon, Remmono et suburbana ejus, et Thabor cum suburbanis sus:

78trans Jordanem quoque ex adverso Jericho contra orientem Jordanis, de tribu Ruben, Bosor in solitudine cum suburbanis suis, et Jassa cum suburbanis suis,

79Cademoth quoque et suburbana ejus, et Mephaat cum suburbanis suis.

80Necnon et de tribu Gad, Ramoth in Galaad et suburbana ejus, et Manaim cum suburbanis suis,

4Eleazar beget Phinees, and Phinees beget Abisue,

5And Abisue beget Bocci, and Bocci begot Ozi.

6Ozi beget Zaraias, and Zaraias beget Maraioth.

7And Maraioth beget Amarias, and Amarias beget Achitob.

8Achitob beget Sadoc, and Sadoc begot Achimaas.

9Achimaas beget Azarias, Azarias begot Johanan,

10Johanan beget Azarias. This is he that executed the priestly office in the house which Solomon built in Jerusalem.

11And Azarias beget Amarias, and Amarias beget Achitob.

12And Achitob beget Sadoc, and Sadoc beget Sellum,

13Sellum beget Helcias, and Helcias beget Azarias,

14Azarias beget Saraias, and Saraias beget Josedec.

15Now Josedec went out, when the Lord carried away Juda, and Jerusalem, by the hands of Nabuchodonosor.

16So the sons of Levi were Gerson, Caath, and Merari.

17And these are the names of the sons of Gerson: Lobni and Semei.

18The sons of Caath: Amram, and Isaar, and Hebron, and Oziel.

19The sons of Merari: Moholi and Musi. And these are the kindreds of Levi according to their families.

20Of Gerson: Lobni his son, Jahath his son, Zamma his son,

21Joah his son, Addo his son, Zara his son, Jethrai his son.

22The sons of Caath, Aminadab his son, Core his son, Asir his son,

23Elcana his son, Abiasaph his son, Asir his son,

24Thahath his son, Uriel his son, Ozias his son, Saul his son.

25The sons of Elcana: Amasai, and Achimoth.

26And Elcana. The sons of Elcana: Sophai his son, Nahath his son,

27Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elcana his son.

28The sons of Samuel: the firstborn Vasseni, and Abia.

29And the sons of Merari, Moholi: Lobni his son, Semei his son, Oza his son,

30Sammaa his son, Haggia his son, Asaia his son.

31These are they, whom David set over the singing men of the house of the Lord, after that the ark was placed:

32And they ministered before the tabernacle of the testimony, with singing, until Solomon built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they stood according to their order in the ministry.

33And these are they that stood with their sons, of the sons of Caath, Hemam a singer, the son of Joel, the son of Sammuel,

34The son of Elcana, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Thohu,

35The son of Suph, the son of Elcana, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,

36The son of Elcana, the son of Johel, the son of Azarias, the son of Sophonias,

37The son of Thahath, the son of Asir, the son or Abiasaph, the son of Core,

38The son of Isaar, the son of Caath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

39And his brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand, Asaph the son of Barachias, the son of Samaa.

40The son of Michael, the son of Basaia, the son of Melchia.

41The son of Athanai, the son of Zara, the son of Adaia.

42The son of Ethan, the son of Zamma, the son of Semei.

43The son of Jeth, the son of Gerson, the son of Levi.

44And the sons of Merari their brethren, on the left hand, Ethan the son of Cusi, the son of Abdi, the son of Meloch,

45The son of Hasabia, the son of Amasai, the son of Helcias,

46The son of Amasai, the son of Boni, the son of Somer,

47The son of Moholi, the son of Mud, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

48Their brethren also the Levites, who were appointed for all the ministry of the tabernacle of the house of the Lord.

49But Aaron and his sons offered burnt offerings upon the altar of holocausts, and upon the altar of incense, for very work of the holy of holies: and to pray for Israel according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

50And these are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinees his son, Abisue his son,

51Bocci his son, Ozi his son, Zarahia his son,

52Meraioth his son, Amarias his son, Achitob his son,

53Sadoc his son, Achimaas his son.

54And these are their dwelling places by the towns and confines, to wit, of the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Caathites: for they fell to them by lot.

55And they gave them Hebron in the land of Juda, and the suburbs thereof round about:

56But the fields of the city, and the villages to Caleb son of Jephone.

57And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities for refuge Hebron, and Lobna, and the suburbs thereof,

58And Jether and Esthemo, with their suburbs, and Helon, and Dabir with their suburbs:

59Asan also, and Bethsames, with their suburbs.

60And out of the tribe of Benjamin: Gabee and its suburbs, Almath with its suburbs, Anathoth also with its suburbs: all their cities throughout their families were thirteen.

61And to the sons of Caath that remained of their kindred they gave out of the half tribe of Manasses ten cities in possession.

62And to the sons of Gerson by their families out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Aser, and out of the tribe of Nephtali, and out of the tribe of Manasses in Basan, thirteen cities.

63And to the sons of Merari by their families out of the tribe of Ruben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zabulon, they gave by lot twelve cities.

64And the children of Israel gave to the Levites the cities, and their suburbs.

65And they gave them by lot, out of the tribe of the sons of Juda, and out of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, these cities which they called by their names.

66And to them that were of the kindred of the sons of Caath, and the cities in their borders were of the tribe of Ephraim.

67And they gave the cities of refuge Sichem with its suburbs in mount Ephraim, and Gazer with its suburbs,

68Jecmaan also with its suburbs, and Beth-horon in like manner,

69Helon also with its suburbs, and Gethremmon in like manner,

70And out of the half tribe of Manasses, Aner and its suburbs, Baalam and its suburbs: to wit, to them that were left of the family of the sons of Caath.

71And to the sons of Gersom, out of the kindred of the half tribe of Manasses, Gaulon, in Basan, and its suburbs, and Astharoth with its suburbs.

72Out of the tribe of Issachar, Cedes and its suburbs, and Dabereth with its suburbs;

73Ramoth also and its suburbs, and Anem with its suburbs.

74And out of the tribe of Aser: Masal with its suburbs, and Abdon in like manner;

75Hucac also and its suburbs, and Rohol with its suburbs.

76And out of the tribe of Nephtali, Cedes in Galilee and its suburbs, Hamon with its suburbs, and Cariathaim, and its suburbs.

77And to the sons of Merari that remained: out of the tribe of Zabulon, Remmono and its suburbs, and Thabor with its suburbs.

78Beyond the Jordan also over against Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, out of the tribe of Ruben, Bosor in the wilderness with its suburbs, and Jassa with its suburbs;

79Cademoth also and its suburbs, and Mephaath with its suburbs;

80Moreover also out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Galaad and its suburbs, and Manaim with its suburbs;

81Hesebon also with its suburbs, and Jazer with its suburbs.
